Recently I've started looking into some art schools, I'm a junior in high school right now so obviously I won't be going to college for about 2 more years. I'm class of 2015.
I always had in my head that you would have to be REALLY AMAZING to get into most art schools, and have always felt like I wouldn't be good enough to get in one...but now I'm realizing that's not the case after talking with my grandma who is a really amazing artist.
I live in Tennessee, so I would prefer to go to something here, I don't think there is anything really nearby, the closest would probably be in Nashville, Knoxville, or Memphis. My question is, does anyone know how hard it is to get a scholarship to an art school? And are there any specific ones you would recommend in the areas I mentioned?
I still don't know FOR SURE if this is what I want to do, I'm really concerned about spending money on schooling and then not using the schooling. I know so many people who have gone to college and then end up not using it at all. So if I'm gonna spend the money on this then I want to put my whole heart into it. I love art and would love to go more places with it. Right now I've only been drawing for a little over a year and I'm still continually seeing improvements in my work and I know I still have lots of room for improvement, but I feel like if I stick with this I could definitely improve SO much.
And by the time I would be ready for college, in 2015, I'm sure I would have improved a LOT more.
So here's a summary of my questions...
1. Do you have any good school recommendations in Tennessee?
2. What is the average price for schooling?
3. Is it difficult to get scholarships?
